About Tuition & Fees

GEMS World Academy Chicago provides your children with materials and experiences that enrich and enhance the education experience, including access to cutting-edge technology, books for grades preschool–grade 8, Field Studies (including transportation), the grade 8 trip, lab fees, and lunch. Basic school supplies (pens, pencils, notebooks, binders) are not included in our fees, nor are books for grades 9 and above. Note: In addition to the fees outlined above, new families pay a one-time fee of $1,000 per student enrolled.

As a celebration of our Upper School opening, we are offering students entering grades 6 and above a $5,000 credit off published tuition, which will remain effective for the duration of the students’ tenure at GWA.

Siblings of students who are enrolled and in good standing at GEMS World Academy Chicago are eligible for a 5% tuition reduction, effective for the 2019–2020 school year.

For each referred student who is admitted and enrolls, the referring family will receive a one-time tuition credit of $500 off one student’s tuition, and the referred family will receive a credit of $250. To participate, tell the family you refer to indicate you as a referral, using your full name on the application in the field asking about referral program participation. The one-time credit will be applied to your tuition balance for the following year. There is no limit on the number of referrals.

Occasionally, families have to withdraw a child from school before the end of the school year. This guide outlines some tuition insurance options that might be available under those circumstances. (Note: Tuition refund insurance is mandatory with some payment plans.)

Financial Assistance & Scholarships

In addition to participation in our referral program and our sibling program, we offer the following to applicants:

  • Financial Assistance: We are pleased to offer financial assistance based on demonstrated need. We take a holistic approach to offering assistance based on the submission of a FAST application and encourage all interested families to apply, as no two situations are alike. Families seeking to enroll for the 2019–2020 school year should use the FAST application. We will alert those families who have applied or who have submitted an inquiry when the application is available for the 2020–2021 school year.
  • Scholarships: Select, limited scholarships are offered to students in grades 6 and above in recognition of outstanding achievement. Scholarship awards are given for exceptional academic talent and achievement as well as consideration for talent in athletics, art, and music, as well as community involvement.
