We believe that the experience of a shared meal is empowering, fuels connectivity, and nurtures community.
Our dining services provider, HandCut Foods, has been a partner with us since our school opened in the fall of 2014. HandCut’s goal is to provide fresh, from scratch, healthy food options. Whenever possible, HandCut selects ingredients and products from local producers and constructs menus around seasonal availability of ingredients.
During the school year, students enrolled in the HandCut lunch program will enjoy a variety of delicious and nutritionally balanced meals, from proven hits like turkey taco salad to new favorites, like tandoori chicken. The culinary team always takes care to accommodate different dietary needs and age groups.
HandCut is committed to making the lunch hour an enriching time beyond the food. They supply students with a year’s worth of food for thought, including interesting nutrition facts, background info on the local farms that grow their ingredients, and historical anecdotes related to the day’s menu.
In addition to optional lunch, HandCut will provide one daily snack to all students in partnership with GEMS. The snack schedule will vary depending on each grade’s schedule.
